Triumph Completes the Largest Modular School Building Relocation in New England History

April 23, 2008—Modular space offers cost-effective, timely and environmentally friendly 100% recyclable solution for schools and towns struggling to expand and upgrade aging facilities

Triumph, the Northeast's premier provider of temporary and permanent modular space solutions to educational institutions, hospitals, and corporations, today announced that it has completed the largest modular building relocation project in New England history, providing an excellent example of the reuse and cost-saving capabilities modular design can offer schools and towns.

The project saw Triumph move a two-story, 26,000-square-foot modular building from Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, Mass. to the Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School in Devens, Mass. The Parker School, a 375-student charter school serving grades 7-12, required a high-quality, cost-efficient solution to address their urgent space demands and purchased the structure from the Wachusett Regional School District, which no longer needed the building."

The modular building was disassembled at Wachusett, transported down I-90 and then reassembled at the Parker School - all in six months.

"The opportunity to acquire this lightly used space cut project costs for the addition to less than one third of what it would have cost to build this space new. The collaboration solved a small problem for Wachusett, the purchase and removal of a building they no longer needed, and a big one for Parker," said Teri Schrader, principal at the Parker School. "This is a considerable addition, one that feels just like a traditionally constructed school building. The quality of the classroom space is superior to that of our current building and we're extremely pleased with both the timeliness of the move and the answer it provides to our current space situation."

The modular building provides the Parker School with an additional two-stories of classroom and lab space, totaling more than 26,000 square feet. The addition contains a total of 14 classrooms, is handicapped accessible and energy efficient.

"This was an ambitious move, becoming the largest of its kind in New England history," said Cliff Cort, president of Triumph Modular. "By going modular, this high-quality building provides Parker with an immediate, cost efficient solution for their expansion needs. It's a powerful testimony to our industry that we can build and move a high quality modular building of this size in order to meet the ever - evolving challenges of Massachusetts communities."

Rick High, Building Committee Co-Chair of the Parker School, added: "Triumph has been terrific for the school from the start to finish," said Mr. High. "They pulled several all-nighters to complete the project on time. We're very pleased with their professionalism and dedication to this project."
